Mar y Mas is Dima & Nastya. A decade in Girona between us, professional careers in hospitality, and the technical and creative craft to know this work from the inside.
We didn't come to this work from photography school or a design degree. We came from inside the hospitality business.
We've managed properties end to end: bookings, cleanings, guest communications, pricing, operations, the calls at midnight when something goes wrong. We've worked with the property management systems that owners use. We've seen what works for occupancy and what doesn't.
Most studios shoot properties without ever having run one. We've done both. That changes how we approach every project.
The Costa Brava and Empordà are full of homes that deserve to be seen the way their owners see them. Most aren't. Mar y Mas exists to change that — with operational understanding in the background of every decision we make.
Nastya is a professional photographer, certified and qualified through formal training and multiple certifications. She has worked across portraits, lifestyle, architectural subjects, and editorial work for many years.
In Girona, she's known. She founded and runs Girona Connecta, the community of around seven thousand people who live in and around the city. Through Connecta, she's spent years inside the local business network: the restaurant owners, the property managers, the hotel teams, the developers. When we meet a new client, we usually share three contacts within ten minutes.
She also has direct experience managing properties — the operational side, from guest communications to bookings. She knows what an owner is actually trying to sell when they ask for "good photos."
At Mar y Mas she leads photography, on-site direction, and styling. The way a property feels in the final image is her work.
Dima leads drone, video, and the technical layer of the studio. He's a certified commercial drone operator under Spanish AESA regulations, fully licensed and insured for commercial work. He flies a DJI Avata 2 for cinematic aerial work, including interior FPV and tight architectural cinematography that most local pilots cannot legally fly.
Before founding Mar y Mas, he spent years inside the hospitality industry. He worked at Guesty, one of the largest property management platforms in the world, which gives him direct working knowledge of the systems property managers actually use, the operational realities of running a portfolio, and how the technology stack of modern hospitality fits together. He has also personally managed properties end to end.
The websites we build are properly engineered. The PMS integrations actually work. The booking funnels convert. The technical layer of Mar y Mas exists because Dima built it.
Between the two of us, we've lived in Girona for about a decade. We know the towns, the seasons, the light at different times of year. We know which villages photograph best in morning fog, which beaches are quiet in October, which mountain roads make the best drone routes.
We also know the guests. Costa Brava and Empordà attract a specific kind of traveler: design-conscious, well-traveled, often international, looking for something quieter and more considered than the Mediterranean tourism cliché.
We know what they respond to and what they scroll past. That knowledge sits inside every shoot, every site, every word of copy we write.
Mar y Mas isn't two freelancers under one name. It's a single studio with two practitioners. Nastya owns visual direction, photography, and on-the-ground craft. Dima owns drone, video, websites, and the technical and operational backbone.
Every project goes through both of us. Nothing leaves the studio without both signatures on it.
We're partners in life as well as in work. Living together in Girona, walking the same streets, sharing the same view of the region. The studio isn't a job we go to. It's the work we wanted to make for the place we live in.
Property owners in our region come from all over: Spanish locals, Catalan natives, British and Dutch second-home buyers, Scandinavians, North Americans, an increasing number from Eastern Europe.

Most of our work is with owners of distinctive stay properties. From time to time, we also take select projects with real estate developers, hotels, restaurants, bars, and commercial properties across Catalunya.
